Weekly Meal Plan

Every Sunday night I sit down with my pen & paper to write a meal plan. I find we end up wasting less and spending less on food if we have a plan of what were going to eat for that week!
I only really plan the week days as at the weekends we tend to eat out of see family.

I look and see what were doing that week and what days we need food for. I look online (mostly pintrest) as well as cook books to find recipes which I fancy cooking.

Here's this weeks menu - Enjoy

Monday 2nd Jan-
Breakfast - Eggy bread, avcardo, tomato and bacon
Lunch - Homemade butternut squash soup
Dinner - My sister-in-law's 25th Birthday so we wont be eating at home

Tuesday 3rd Jan- **My Birthday!!**
Breakfast - Overnight oats with berries
Lunch - More soup
Dinner - Steak, chips, mushrooms, onion rings, peas and tomatoes

Wednesday 4th Jan-
Breakfast - Coffee in town
Lunch - Eggy bread, avacardo and bacon
Dinner - One pan pesto chicken and veggies

Thursday 5th Jan-

Lunch - Scrambled eggs on toast
Dinner - **I'm at the hair dressers so won't be home late** Cheeseburger lettuce wraps and chips

Hope this has given you some inspiration - Enjoy

Csection update

Hello lovely people.

I thought I would quickly give you a update on how my Csection recovery is going.

I had my Csection nearly 7 weeks ago and I haven't had any problems so far, the cut is healing nicely and hasn't been a problem and the ends of the cut have started to turn into a scar. I have had a pain above where they made the cut started getting really sore and uncomfortable if I touched it or nocked kg but when Daphney had her 6 week check I spoke to the dr about it and they said it's fine!

I still have been wearing maternity leggings and nassive granny nickers to johns dismay but I'm finding wearing normal jeans really hard at the moment so I'm sticking with maternity for now!

But all in all I'm doing great! I think the advice that the midwives say is true moving around early on helps so much! We had Daphney on Friday and by Tuesday we were walking around and doing everything we were doing before! Everyone is different though so listen to your body and don't over do it if you feel up to it!

Daphney 6 week update

Hello lovely people!

I hope you are all well. I thought I would do a blog post about Daphney and her 6 week update!

Daphney had her last visit from the health visitor this week and has put on weight which is great!

Daphney is sleeping though the night now and has been from about 2ish week, it takes her about 2 hours to get to sleep but when she does drift off she stays asleep until about 7.30/8am!

She's still having breast milk as a first feed and at her last feed and is bottle fed formula milk as the other feeds which is working really well for us. It means John can help with feeding and we're not tied down to the house

Daphney has started to really smile now which is soooo cute, and she looks around the room to the sound of our voices which I think she can tell it's us!

D (Daphney) has been a lot more vocal now and gurgles away to us and seems to be awake and a lot more alert in the day times now which is nice, she's also grunting now like a little piggy which is adorable.

Daphney's started to enjoy baths now which is good as we have booked her in for a trail swimming lesion at the end of January!

We went to the Dr for her 6 week update and they were really happy with her, they checked D's head and chest and answered the questions I had.

Daphney's been loving all the Christmas lights and she will turn to look st then and seems to be focused more on them now which is good.

She was getting a bit spotty but they seem to be cleaning up now, she's had colic but again clearing up and now I think she has slight cradle cap on her eyebrows so that's the next thing we'll have to sort out!

But all in all Daphney is on track and doing great!!

Padsicles for after labour

Hi Ladies,

I am currently 36 weeks pregnant so I am getting sorted for all things labour related. I was trailing though Pinterest and I can across a recipe for "padsicles" and I was intrigued.
These homemade frozen padsicles are used postpartum as they have good healing properties to speed up recovery of the perineum and other areas - so I thought I would give them ago - anything to help!!

To make these Padsicles you will need -
1.Maternity pads or Night sanitary pads

2.Organic Aloe Vera Gel (I picked mine up from Whole Foods Market)

3.Witch Hazel liquid - Astringent which helps to close pores and heal skin

4.Lavender essential oil - This helps calm swelling or inflammation of skin and also helps to  supports cellular regeneration

5.Geranium essential oil - This helps heal any broken capillaries and conditions the skin

6.Rosemary essential oil - Helps fight infection and inflammation it also strengthens muscles

7.Spray bottle (optional)
8.Cling film/ Tin foil
You can also use frankincense Essential Oil which supports tissue regeneration and prevents scarring but I chose not to use this.

Making the padsicles
1. Lay out your desired pad on a clean surface (I used a chopping board, if you chose to use night sanitary pads keep the packing on the outside and carefully peel off the sticky tab but keep this for later!)

2. Apply 3/4 teaspoons of your witch hazel to each pad and allow to sink in

3. Apply 3 blobs of Aloe gel on each pad, making sure to evenly spread over the whole pad front to back using a teaspoon

4. Mix together 4 drops of each essential oil (per pad) and spray the length of the do with this mixture (I used 60 drops of each oil which sounds like loads but I made 20 pads and still have a lot of each essential oil left)

5. Leave to sink in for a few minutes whilst you finish the remaining pads

6. Wrap in cling film / Tin foil

7. Place in your freezer and use after labour.

If you have any other tips for labour feel free to leave in the comment section below!

35 week pregnancy update

Hello Lovely's
Sorry for the lack of posts, its been crazy!
I'm not 35 weeks & 2 days, so we really are nearly there. The nursary is almost complete, all of her little baby bits are washed. Its all feeling real now.

We have had a visit to Cheltenham hospital where I could give birth which was really emotional for me, seeing it all, and where I might be giving birth was overwhelming, exciting but overwhelming all the same.

How pregnant are you? 35w + 2d – (3rd Trimester - Final stretch!!)
How many days until due date: 32 Days
Weight: I get weighed at my 36 week midwife appointment which is on Tuesday
Pregnancy symptoms: I can't believe how much my bump is growing! I look pregnant now, not just a bit plump. I have been signed off work with SPD (symphysis pubis dysfunction) which is why my hips and pelvis were giving me such problems. I am also feeling super tired as I'm not sleeping at the moment and haven't really been for the last 2-3 weeks - BOO!!

Stretch Marks: more visible, and slightly darker
Cravings: iced drinks, mostly Costa mango & passion-fruit coolers
Movement: Little miss has been getting hick-ups loads which apparently means she's getting her lungs ready for the big wide world, and after speaking to the midwife I now know that her patten of movement which is in the early morning or late in the evening, she's quiet mostly in the afternoons
Gender: 🎉 ITS A GIRL!!!!!
Sleep: really badly! I have been getting period like pains, and back pain, so I have been going to bed with a hot water bottle which has been helping, but not sleeping well at all!
Worst moment this week: Lack of sleep, and night time pains
Best moment this week: on friday John got a new job - he is super excited so at the weekend we have been celebrating
Nesting: Her room is almost done now which is weird as it used to be a dumping ground and now its our little girl's bedroom. We have cleaned all the rooms and i've been keeping to a cleaning rota (very grown up)
Labour signs: Nope
Belly button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or moody most of the time: Tired but excited

Looking forward to: Tuesday for my midwife appointment and I can hear baby girl's heartbeat
